Addiction

Addiction is mainly an obsession, compulsion or excessive dependence on something, which is dangerous and can

even lead to death. Addiction can be of alcohol, drugs, smoking or some more injurious habits, which create problems within yourself and with the people around you.

Addiction and family, undoubtedly go hand in hand. If the individual is severely addicted to any substance or some activity then it is sure to have worse effects on the family. According to experts, if an individual is addicted to something, his/her family members must make sure that he/she is not ignored or rejected by the society. In fact that individual should be offered with complete social support and family help to get rid of that addiction.

Addiction and family are also inter-related because the individual, who is addicted, influences not only other adults but also the children of the family. It is possible for them to get into the use of all that the addicted person is using. They can even suffer from depression by looking at the problems in the family. There are a number of health care centers and rehabilitation centers that help the individuals and their family to overcome the issues associated with addiction and family. If all the family members are involved in the treatment of that person then it becomes easier for him/her to accept the change.

The person may even relapse after starting the treatment, and so it’s the family’s responsibility to keep the person informed about the rights and wrongs. Addiction and family is always together as most of the problems, which lead to addiction are associated with financial, relationship and work matters. It is vital for these problems to be solved slowly and steadily along with the cure then only the addicted person can be helped completely.

In the family, the person who is close to the addicted individual and influences him/her positively should go ahead and convince him/her to overcome the addiction.
